I see several vendors offering water pumps in the $50 to $100 range, vs OEM $300. I am not compulsive about originality, as the engine and tranny on my car are 3.4L 4 speed and they are not original either. Having said that, water pump is the heart of the engine. Any thoughts/experiences?

For me is the reliability important, so a plastic impeller is not the best reliable. I have seen some newer pumps on never cars in which the plastic was totally broken.
(I’m thinking of refurbishing some old original pump. But there are too many other projects on stock)
