Agave Coupe

Wow, that is one clean car! I remember seeing this one in the past too. The price is really up there, but it is a very clean car. It will be interesting to see if it goes for that much. This dealer tends to have some very clean and nice cars. I believe they had a Polaris coupe for sale two to three years ago that was very nice and they were asking around $50-$55k for it from my recollection. I think the Don Davis (ex Canepa) coupe auction result has raised the bar and expectation on prices.

Do they keep buckets under the cars to catch the oil before it hits the oriental rugs?

Seems to have the optional speaker grille delete. And not only no tool kit but no elephant skin covering the rest of the trunk lid.. Picky, picky.

He should buy the tool kit on eBay containing the red screw drivers.
Then the price would be $75K
Can't say that chroming the air cleaner housing appeals to me...

Very nice! And nice to see a relatively unmodified coupe commanding that kind of money. No wiper motor cover though...

+1 I am liking these recent asking prices for our cars, maybe someday they won't be so shocking, especially if they sell

Any paint experts care to comment?

Looks like orange peel in the paint in a number of spots and poor prep in others.

Just was looking at the Collector Car Price Tracker, which gives values of certain collector cars. There are 6 pages of coupe prices at auction. The prices are all over the board, with a few cars in the $50-$55,000 range. Most are much less. I found the Agave coupe subject of this topic. Same car....chrome air cleaner housing. It sold for $29,000 on EBayMotors on 7/11/12. Here is the link to the Price Tracker page for this car. That is some mark-up from then to now!

Now thats a Profit for less than a year of ownership.Hope he gets it.
PS Good investigation work BuBukitty!

I hope he gets it too.

One thing that stands out with me on "restored" e9's is the soundproofing in the engine bay. I can't help but feel that if you're not going to use material that duplicates original, why bother? I'd rather see nice fresh, solid metal as opposed to something that can easily hide issues in one of the most sensitive areas of the car. The freshly painted mubbley bubbley look creeps me out, and for me, detracts from the car.

Why not coat the underside with a premium rust/sound treatment if you care about functionality and show off how solid the upper fenders are?

Just my .002
