air con. fan eletric connections

The blue book differentiates the A/C wiring schematics as follows: post 73 and pre 73 cars. The wiring diagrams are found on pages 64-50/2b and 64-50/17, respectively. This section goes though the installation in depth. The fan wiring is similar, except that post 73 cars incorporate a radiator temperature switch.

Pre 73 Materials:

1. Bosch 0 332 100 020 relay, or similar.

2. In-line fuse.

3. 2.5 mm red wire

4. 2.5 mm brown wire

5. 0.75 mm brown wire

6. 1.5 mm white wire

Pre 73 Instructions:

1. Secure the relay to the right wheel housing next to the air dryer.

2. Run some red wire from the positive battery terminal, through the in-line fuse, to terminal 30 on the relay.

3. Run some red wire from the positive terminal of the fan motor to terminal 87 on the relay.

4. Run some white wire to the magnetic clutch terminal. (If you have already wired the magnetic clutch, it should be connected to the A/C temperature selector switch via the plug behind the interior A/C unit.)

5. Run some 0.75 mm brown wire from terminal 85 on the relay to a good ground stud.

6. Run some 2.5 mm brown wire from the negative fan terminal to an even better ground stud.

Please, anybody else with additional comments, or a scanner, please pipe in.

In step 4, the white wire should run from the magnetic clutch to terminal 86 of the relay. Sorry about that.
