I recently bought a used Bosch air valve for a vacuum idle project. It looks like this:

%2524%2528KGrHqFHJ%2521sE9BV0EYNBBPQrg1Deb%2521%257E%257E60_12.JPG

The problem is that it defaults in the on position meaning it always lets air through in one directon, when energized it shuts the air passage off. Does anyone know of a similar type air valve part that defaults off and allows air to pass when energized? TIA.

I think that's the one I have, same part number, am not sure how that E32 system works and why it would shut the air passage off when powered. I am looking for the opposite - allow air to pass when powered. Thanks for the suggestion Don.

I was wondering when you were going to ask! I am working on a project to advance my distributor at idle when the air conditioning cycles on in order to counteract the drop in idle rpm from the compressor. Stay tuned...

hi steve

what the heck are your machinations ? what are you trying to improve / modify ?

interested

Steve,

You can use a two pole relay to reverse this. I did this on a earlier scheme with my engine. When the AC compressor is powered on it switches power off to pin 87a (which is connected to the valve).

I am now using this valve for the charcoal filter. It opens at certain rpm's/load conditions per a megasquirt table.
