I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours with Alf last week. Amazing, what a BMW legend, saw a couple of his race cars, M1 and Alpina M6! Told lots of stories, compared parts, saw his brilliant fabrication from frame to body with everything in between. He raced the first factory CSL that had a turbo, ended up racing it the US without the turbo engine, BMW kept, in museum, he won daytona in the M1, and on and on....Additionally, he probably has the last coupe made, and is in the process of complete restoration. He worked in the factory when young, and his racing skills were discovered, and the rest is history.

Sooner, very cool experience. How did you get his contact info and did you just call him from out of the blue. Any pictures?

I will try to post a couple of pics, there was a craigslist ad in Tulsa, called the seller and it is was him. Did not know that until we went in and saw the M1 and started the questions. He was incredibly nice a what a pleasure to visit with! He enjoyed the visit and talking with a fellow enthusiast. He runs a small race track outside of Tulsa, instructs, and corporate events

So very true, great guy with many interesting stories and adventures. Loves to talk BMW's and show you what he has, he started his career working in the factory!
