Alpina B4 ?

The description actually says VIN is:
4320035 and that´s what I (hardly) decipher from the picture of the VIN plate as well.

also says Alpina Number:
3201382

engine number
1425

any of that plausible / make sense?

The whole car seems strange. Body is 74, engine 78, looks like D-Jet, definitely much later/non-original upholstery / wood / leather / dash....

to be honest, never hear of an Alpina B4. Always thought e9/e3 Alpinas were B2 or BS2 and even those are mostly "recreations"

somebody go poke it with a stick!
wide basket weaves, roof hoop, and some old Alpina bits: wonder if it was a taken to Alpina in the late 70s/80s for some sort of make over?

love these mystery machines

It was possible to order BMW E9 coupes from alpina with the following engines: B1, B2, B2S, B3, and B4. Some sources says that it was possible to order B6 engines, too, from 1976 for any E9 coupe.

Interesting that the lower part of the air-box has all of those holes drilled in it. Stock 3.0 csi airboxes don't have those holes.

The pictures are from 2008 and were not taken at the dealer. The garage looks like some Stasi bunker. Maybe this car suffered from the fall of the Berlin wall, like it fell on this car or something...

That car must have gone back in after delivery for modification.
Archive info...The BMW 3.0 CS Automatic VIN 4320035 was manufactured on December 19th, 1973 and delivered on January 14th, 1974 to the BMW dealer Brauneisen in Wendlingen. The original colour was Turquoise metallic, paint code 065. There is nothing mentioned of a possible Alpina-Modification

Alternatively this thing could have been thrown together from some Alpina bits and an aged E9. Since there´s a plaque, there may have been a donor Alpina car. 1978 means most likely an E12 based Alpina.

Most "Alpinas" these days never saw Buchenlohe...

I just called the dealer that is handling the sale. He was very frank and honest. The sale is a "fire sale". The owner needs to sell for financial reasons. Explains the condition as well.

The car is indeed a 74 CS that the current owner upgraded with Alpina bits many years ago. At that time that car also recieved some bodywork and obviously the overworked interior. There are some receipts for Alpina parts but the car WAS NOT built or converted by Alpina.
Wether or not a donor alpina car was used the seller could not say.

Wether or not that collection of car, stories and bits is worth the asking price I dare not say.

I was offered a commission on a sale after 30 seconds of talking though. I politely declined...:-D

Thank you for finding out the real story of the car. Although I still don't understand why the owner says it is an Alpina B4.
