IMG_0096.JPG Hello,

I have a homologated ZF S5-18/3 Gearbox for sale:

This homologated for E9 (1969 - 1975)

Ratio

1. gear 3.85
2. gear 2.40
3. gear 1.76
4. gear 1.26
5. gear 1.00
R. gear 3.64

It is a original on in quite good condition! No replica! Used by BMW Motorsport, ALPINA, Schnitzer, GS and Koepchen)

Is also homologated for 02 and E21. I bought it with another racecar but have no use for it!

Neat.

Looking to be educated, what are the main differences between the ZF and Getrag c/r 5spd units?

Thx.

I had a 4sp zf in my car when purchased.
There is no exterior linkage. Stays lubricated and, the best shifting gearboxes I ever had, any car.
That said. Mine had a common ZF problem. There is a flat faced ???? Couldn't buy the part in 1984.
So I put in my first Getrag and never looked back.
No 5sp or CR, info sorry

They used those boxes in lots of cars, mostly for FIA Homologation purposes for racing....Ford Escort, Opel, Vauxhall I think... I pulled one out of a U pull it but alas it was an OD 5th gear, still sold it to an Escort guy, but not all the $$$ of a CR. The 4 spd's, I used one for a while in my 2500 sedan, was a good transmission, for sale now...

Thanks

Alonzo Taylor
