I'm having a set of Alpina's that are getting redone at US Wheel here in So Cal. While the shop can match anything, the paint has faded after years of being in the sun. So I have no baseline for the Alpina silver. Do any of you know the paint code for the Alpina silver color that the factory sprays on wheels? Or a paint code of a different manufacture that is an exact match here in the states? Thanks for your help.

Correct wheel paint for Alpina wheels

Don't have it available--but a good reason to have selected Speedway in Santa Ana for your wheel re-finishing services--since--for many years they have been doing Porsche, MBZ and BMW wheels to factory standards for restorers and enthusiasts.

Was introduced to them by Mesa performance in the early 1990's. No relationship to Speedway except as a happy customer since 1992.

Speedway uses a Porsche paint that is a dead-on match but the paint is very expensive. I think he charges around $750 for four. What is US Wheels' price?

Wheel color

Wurth silver with clearcoat is the closest match.( old Porsche tip; but it's laquer.) They once sold quarts; but of late, only have seen cans. Might try to have them match on a color card if they mix.

The only other tip is the centers- the paint edge is a bit soft. Set the gun to pencil as in airbrush, not fan.

Dupli-Color in aerosol cans matches as well as Wurth. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not made by the same supplier.

Old thread, but maybe somebody has refinished their Alpinas recently and knows a good paint code for a close match to the original Alpina wheel color?

I'm having a paint shop refinish my 16" wheels, so any information would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

I understand that BMW Polaris is the colour used by Alpina

Thank you, earlier today when I read your post I thought that it just can't be that easy, and I was almost sure that the Alpina wheel is a bit darker than Polaris.
But I had to check as I have a lot of small pieces just painted in Polaris, and to my surprise the color match is very close!

So I think I will go with Polaris on the wheels if nobody else has any other ideas/suggestions?

Cheers,

I checked with Alpina a couple of years ago when I was redoing mine. They claimed to have no record of what paint code they used. I wound up using Polaris with a satin clearcoat. They've worked well.

Thank you all for confirming that Polaris is normal to put on Alpinas, I left them off at the shop today, big sigh when he saw all the spokes;)
