I noticed a primer black/gray coupe being driven with very strange rims. (Car had dual exhausts, no grills.) I was in someone else's car so I could not get a real close look, but the rims looked like those "honeycomb" style that were used on Pontiac TransAms in the 1980's. Again, I can't say for sure, what or from where these rims came, but they sure looked different. I mentioned this to another e9'er and he claimed he once saw an E9 fitted with what looked like Porsche "cookie cutter" rims. Of course, any of these rims could have been aftermarket look-a-likes.

This begets another question that has probably been answered before. But let me ask it anyway. Are there any other car maker's rims (Steel or Aluminum - Asian/Euro/US) that fit the coupes without spacers or re-drilling the mounting holes? When I say fit I mean "no rub" especially in der front wheel wells.

I am content with my stock rims and my 16" BBS's, but I was just wondering aloud.

TIA
