Can anyone direct me to a supplier for a replacement alternator for a BMW 3.0 CSI, 1971 - in Europe? It seems that an internally regulated alternator is a good substitute for the original one. Also, will a new replacement be a straight fit using existing mounts?

Walloth & Nesch in Germany does not stock the item - nor the exchange/reconditioned part.

Thanks in advance for any advice here.

PS! I did find this item (link below), but the supplier (in Denmark) could not guarantee that the alternator will fit the car...

Thank you Jef - for suggesting Zygmunt Motors.

To clarify, I was aware that Walloth & Nesch stock the item - but they have said that it's out of stock at the moment.

Meanwhile, someone else has kindly suggested BnR as a supplier and I have purchased the alternator from them. I haven't fitted it yet, but it should bolt straight on.

Kind regards,

/HC

I was able to sub-in the alternator from a later E24 without problems using the original mount. The only small issues were a bolt was too short and I had to bypass the original external regulator using the double-male-wire jump trick, as described in the Autobooks manual.
