The other day I realized as I passed a local body shop with a big yard in back that I almost unconsciously look for Coupes. Any Coupe. I do this when I pass third tier used car lots with mostly 80s and 90s cars out front. I even scan backyards when there are multiple older, sometimes rusting, cars.

Am I the only one? I doubt it. Your thoughts guys?

Steve

Yep. I do it locally and online. I take hwy 99 to work. It is a treasure trove of has been euros.

difficult to find a coupe, i have seen a couple in germany going there on purpose,...but if i see any collection of parts on show in exhibitions, or shops, i am always trying to find coupe parts, here in the fleamarkets in berlin i have tried to get "souvenirs", and yes i managed to get something
you are not alone,...

Before wifi, hell before internet, the best way to pass time on Caltrain from SF to Stanford was to see what the used import dealers and body shops had in their back lots. In particular, there was a rusting bare metal coupe shell that I completely memorized, 2 seconds at a time, over the course of a year. Obviously, there are scars.

I completely lack the hope of ever finding an E9 in my area, too many know their value, so I have gone to collecting the E24. I have a feeling these will be my son's generation coupe to collect and restore.

I always look around for all kinds of classic BMWs, but I've only seen one coupe (exept my own) in real life here in Finland, so I don't really expect to find one just lying around..

There was a Polaris coupe, looked pretty rusty, at a used car dealer outside Great Barrington, MA. Noticed it on the way to Lime Rock Park in 2013 with Stan.

Also know of a 2002 graveyard in NH. Have to be at least 30 rusting away, plus half a 700, a few E28s and a VW bus and a 2000CS. All have been picked pretty clean. All victims of being driven in New England winters back when they were new.

hidden coupes

Heck, I even use Google Earth once a week and look everywhere in the world and occasionally use Zillo real estate to look in backyards.

I also look forward to the TV traffic reports in the morning with their cameras trained on the highways to see if there's an abandoned coupe on the side of the road.:)

according to my seller there was one across town. He's older and has memory issues. I'm going to get the vicinity and try google street view.

No Steve, you're not a little off. I do the same as you. On the rare occasions I visit a 'junk' yard I'm always hoping for that million to one shot. The closest I came was when there was a '72 2002.

I hope you realize I was being humorous in my post or at least trying to be.

PS. The only time I take "meds" is when I'm in Colorado.

Yes!
I have NE coordinates for a satellite view that shows a white coupe with a red interior in a front yard next to a tall handsome fellow suntanning in his underwear.

Stan is at it again, I take it, and we just had 2 inches of snow overnight, he's hardcore.
