remember, it is all about location, location, location,...
a bulb must be in focus to produce the correct light pattern
this become tough when talking about old period correct vintage driving lights
or you find NOS bulbs, which is not certainly easy, or you change the socket to use halogen lights which brings you to the out of focus situation because geometry is very difficult to keep in position, leaving you with a set of decorative lights that might do the frick in your christmas tree

not procedent,
1- glass melting occurs between 500 and 900 ºC
2- opportunity cost is to a non bulb (empty) driving light

Actually, I wasn't thinking driving light, I was picturing all those melted 2002 lenses after people put brighter bulbs in them. Did you make those or source them?

The bulb geometry is a good topic that never gets talked about since lighting/Optic engineering is very complex and has many factors. I never did any of it but I worked with some ME's that developed light-pipes for computer products back in the day. To be an engineer developing headlights today must be pretty cool.
