Amazon Green E9 on eBay

This ebay auction is for this same car that started this:
http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11029

The pictures are nice, but there are visible problems with the details of the car and lack of underbody pictures / or details of restoration other than mechanical changes.

Might be a nice car, but will need time and money to finish even the visible stuff that detract (bad rear seats, bent airdam lip).

I hope the seller gets a good price, but would present better if all of the little details were already taken care of.

Completely agree... looks like a nice car, but based on the ad we have no idea whether or not all of the nasty spots that one can't see have been properly addressed. Who did the work? Did they open up the inner fenders, clean them out and seal them or just paint the engine compartment because the rust wasn't coming through yet? How do we know the inner rocker panels were properly treated?... they could have just slapped new outer panels over rotting innards... checkout the restoration section... happens all the time...

At anything close to the asking price ($60k) this car seems like a huge gamble without additional detailed documentation of the quality of the bodywork, especially when there are very experienced and reputable shops like La Jolla and Coupe King offering fully restored and documented cars for the same $. If I wanted the ultimate CS and money was no object, I would buy this one: http://www.coupeking.com/73-3-5-cs-4908

Just my 2 cents... enlighten me if I'm mistaken. I was biting my tongue in the earlier thread.

I know I'm a one-note mantra about this, but it absolutely astounds me that a car like this is bid up to nearly $30k when the ad does not even claim it's rust-free ("No Visible Rust No Known Accidents No Known Bodywork") and does not present a single photograph of the rust-sensitive areas.

But CoupeKing's url says, "Car arrived as a painted shell on casters with three truck loads full of parts." That means CoupeKing also did not get inside the fenders and rockers. It was done by a shop that's no longer in business.

I'm not sure how much better that car is than the car on topic.

Don't understand 0.02 cents? Am confused and worried. Keep seeing this here. hmmm.

The more accurate comment would be either:

my $0.02 worth

or:

my 2 cents worth

but not:

my 0.02 cents worth

Still confused?

Well put. Fixed. Perhaps my 2 cents are worth less than someone else's 2 cents since I'm relatively new to these cars... hence 0.02 cents.

John, perhaps that blue car wasn't the best example, although it is comforting that a respected shop at least worked on it and stands behind it.
