I bought another 2002 today. Baaaaah, I've got the sickness really bad... 8-I A friend works for a scrap metal company in northern CA and goes EVERYWHERE looking for cars and metal. He probably has 200-300 cars stashed all over the place from the last 20 years but he's not into European stuff. I told him to let me know anytime he comes across any 60's or 70's BMWs and this one was at a tow yard about an hour from me. Not an awesome deal but good enough not to pass up.

Its a '76 with back fees because of smog. Its Sahara with a decent older repaint that should shine up okay and only has a couple rust bubbles near a couple windows. The floors, spare tire well and everywhere else is very solid. Seats have been redone and look pretty good, but besides the seats the car is completely original, including the thermal reactors, smog equipment, solenoids, everything. It doesn't give it much more value, but its nice to see everything still there.

The crazy thing... I was there for over an hour this morning and didn't take one photo! What a dork!

Dan,

I just bought a one owner 75 2002A for our son, all smog stuff still in place which I will remove (nice being exempt!). Very solid, 20 year old repaint, now red was anthracite. Now I'm looking for parts, fun fun.

squaretails

Like prostitutes and politicians, even square-tails gain respectablility with time. I love my 76...Incorrectly Nevada, with incorrect chrome bumpers and Campagnolos...Become familiar with Bluntech, if you are not already...Steve Petersen is the best vendor for new parts, and a great guy.
Dave V. in NC

I love Sahara on '02s. I'm not thrilled with it on my Coupe, but it works a lot better on the smaller car.

I know the feeling. I bought Dave in NC's 76 Taiga a few weeks ago. Removed the M10 and automatic and cleaned the engine bay with a power washer and degreaser.

A couple photos... The place I bought it from didn't send the keys with the tow driver so I have to wait to get them in the mail. In the meantime I'll just work on cosmetic stuff.

Looks pretty clean Dan! Question,I just purchased a 1988 Trooper with 76K and the tags expired in Dec so I'm sure there are back fees. Do you how this works? Nevada has classic plates so I don't have to smog it if I drive under 4K miles a year.
Thanks Tim

In CA you register the vehicle as normal and they tell you how much extra you pay in penalties. It shouldn't be much if its similar to CA only five months or so.

02 love

Always good to see the "go" pedal is still there, so the nubs/floor aren't rusted too badly...seats look to have been reupholstered/stuffed...and an original rubber shift knob! Looks pretty honest. Nicely done.
