Chamonix and red leather with Borrani wire wheels... what a classy ride.

I can live with the looks of the E9 much easier than the 2000CS - the 2000CS has grown on me in the last several years. The front, maybe not so much - but everything else is just so elegant. Some colors do better (for me) than others - front wise... But the BaT car is exceptional regardless of what one thinks about its aesthetics. It appears to be a wonderful example.
While I do like the interior on the E9, it would have been interesting if the E9's interior carried over from these Coupe's. That would have been an interesting design blending with what we have grown to know from the more 'conservative' exterior of what the E9 has.

Regardless - the 2000CS on BaT is cool :)

I owned a 67 2000CS 6 years before I got my 70 2800CS. I very much liked the 2000CS, but I think the longer font end of the later E9s look more balanced visually. The 2000CS liked cornering better but even with the strong 4-cylinder engine it lacks the power and smoothness of the E9 six.

I do like the wire wheels on the that 2000CS. That was the first thing that caught my eye.

It is certainly a pretty car.

I found it odd when late in the auction that the seller announced that reserve had been met. If I was a bidder, I would assume that it is now at (or nearly at) the market value of the car and I would hesitate to bid much higher. I guess it could motivate those with lots of lust for the car and lots of money to continue bidding, but I would think the downside of disclosing the reserve is not worth the risk of limiting some bidders and would not dissuade the deep pockets guys either.

I never understood or liked that tactic either. Let it ride to the end IMHO. Maybe if not much bidding going on towards the final two minutes and the high bidder is close to reserve, announce it is almost there but in many instances on BaT, they will make up the difference for a through sale to get it sold. It looks good on their end and they will still make money. They did that with the coupe I bought and why I was shocked I won with the bid I made. Owner still gets full reserve amount. BaT just doesn't make as much commission.

The Borranni wheels were specially made for BMW and this car. The person who invited us to the Bimmer Invasion knows the previous owner and said those wheels today would cost $30K !!!!!!
