Hi all im lee im 30 and from weston super mare in the uk, i have 2 coupes come into my possession both need a fair bit of work. Im not to clued up on these cars but one has a different engine to the other.

this is the better of the 2 roof has been taped as the sunroof is stuck open slightly.

This is the engine the car is a 3.0 cs on the vin but the engine has 3.2/3.5 on the inlet manifold

Any ideas if this is the correct engine?

Last question should this have any numbers stamped on it? its on the A pillar by the door

Welcome Lee, you've come to the right place for advice/help. There is much info (and many experts, not me) on this site.
If your coupe is a CS, it originally had carburetors. CSi coupes are Bosch D-jet fuel injected, so the engine (or the FI system) is not the original in your coupe.The FI system in your car is L-jet, I'm fairly sure, used on later (1980s) BMWs.
The Karmann label should be stamped with a paint code number in the "kunstharzlack" section. The label appears to be original (riveted) so I'm at a loss to explain why it isn't stamped.

Hello Lee. Good to have another UK chap join. I reckon that engine's from an 80s E24 but I'm sure other's will chime in. What's the other car like?

Good luck with the resto. Maybe start a thread documenting its progress, those are always interesting.
