Another reveneer question

The black gauge surround was glued in. It is a pain to remove, use care in prying out the surrounds so they won't be damaged or nicked. Hopefully in your case, some of the glue have had delaminated, making the removal process a lot easier.

Does anyone have a simple method in removing these?

My black gauge pods were soldered in place to the back plate. Only soldered in a few places per pod.
I used a utility knife to cut thru the solder and used a 2x4 block and hammer to pop out.
When I re-installed I used silicone, lightly, on the wood surface, where gauge pods go thru wood,(not the face), to secure pod from moving.
Worked for me!

This was the same for me, but there was very little soldering (if any). Be gentle prying the rear galvanized plate off because if it becomes warped you'll have problems realigning it. I also did the same thing with RTV silicone (clear) to re-adhere. The black gauge bezels seem to fit snugly in place without silicone as if they were originally pressed into place.

If there is additional glue and hassle, it probably wasn't factory. Maybe the PO had the veneer redone at some point.
