Another SoCal 'winner'

Not that bad

Doesn't look too bad to me.

40k might be the new normal if this car checks out, despite the big bumpers.

Hard to tell for sure, but the fender seams look original. Would like to look inside the fender wells from below and up under the dash to see for sure.

Those are the before he claims he was there and is selling in order to house a corvette in the garage. Anybody know of Armens BMW body shop. Don't know how good of a job they do.

I checked out the car this morning. The paint job is excellent, the interior is decent, chrome was nice and polished. Overall a good car. It drove very well. The owner will let you get a PPI and is negotiable on the price. The floor pan rust, looks like it was addressed. But without getting it on a lift, it's hard to tell. The wheel wells and shock towers were clean. I only found a little bit mof rust in the trunk area, but very minor. The owner says that the motor mounts, need replacing, and that there is a differential oil leak. He is willing to get those fixed. If it weren't for the big bumpers I would get this car.

The lack of originality doesn't bother me as much as those bumpers. Is it difficult to retrofit? I found a set of stainless steel ones in Oceanside through eBay.

Does anyone remember seeing this car at the SoCal meet? I want to make sure that all the rust issues were addressed correctly.

If you see ZERO rust on this car, I think $40k may be worth it to help pay/compensate for engine compartment redo (was the original color gold or something?) and some bumpers. Plus no need for shipping ($1k at least right there).

I would rather find original bumpers and re-chrome them than polished stainless steel ones. They (SS) just won't quite have the luster as chrome.

That gold-ish color under the hood is what happens to Polaris over the course of years under the hood. I saw this coupe at So Cal and it looked good to me other than the bumpers. But bumpers can be swapped, Coupe King does it all the time and many have done it themselves.

That sounds do able. There are other things that bother me about the car. They didn't really strip the inside of the doors down when they repainted. The interior was not completely redone, but it looks good. He kept the original carpet, the seat backs, and wood veneer. The steering wheel, and after market stereo are things that can be changed. I didn't like the bit of rust in the spare tire, but it wasn't major. It's what's underneath that I don't know what is hiding.
That explains the engine compartment color, I was wondering what that was about.

my concern is, if they did some floor work, why wouldn't you replace the carpet at that time?

Also, I would like pictures of ALL FOUR FLOORS during the restoration. Amazing how much scale can be found under those foam pads that are glued down.
