Another SoCal 'winner'

What? You never wanted the car in the first place because of the bumpers? The owner seems like a decent guy. Hopefully he just shrugged you off.

Yes he just shrugged me off. He is going to wait for the beginning of the year, because he seems to think that he can get $50k. Good luck to him. He claims he repainted the car because one of the fenders didn't match the rest of the car. I don't believe his accident free claims for one bit. And the fact that the car was half assed with the interior doesn't help. And the car originally came from Seattle raises a red flag on more rust hiding somewhere.

The original ad stated rust repair. He let you drive the car. He said he was negotiable. He will allow a PPI. He told you about issues that you might have missed, etc.

He wouldn't let me drive the car for insurance reasons.
Rust repairs were done to the floor pan, and then coated. Were they done properly?
He offered it to me and then decided to wait until after the holidays, with the thinking that he can get $50k.

Some of these e9 owners are delusional about the price they can get. They look at dealer ads and think that their car is worth more than that.

They forget that the value of a car is worth what the buyer is willing to pay.

OK, you were there and I wasn't. We'll leave it at that. Maybe it's because these cars are such fragile rust buckets that seller's representations face a tough crowd and this was no exception even if it seems to be a pretty decent car.

All the sellers I've encountered all claim that they have the cleanest rust free example. Even if you find rust, then they change their story and say that all cars have rust. In some instances you find out that there is accident history that was not disclosed. When someone is selling you a car, there are always some issues that are not disclosed. It's fine if the asking price is reasonable, but when everybody thinks that their car is worth $40k plus, you have to scrutinize even more.
