THE BRADING EXPERIENCE "BATMOBILE"
Originally constructed and based on a left hand drive Plymouth, the Batmobile was originally used to promote Daganite Batteries.
The car was taken off the road and laid up until the 1980's, when it was purchased by Mr Robert Ball, who set about rebuilding the Batmobile onto a diesel engined Vauxhall Carlton Estate. When the project was completed and made road legal, it was displayed in the Brading Experience Museum on the Isle of Wight. The motor car has been regularly driven around the island, often as a promotional aid with celebrities on board.
A rare opportunity to purchase a motor car fit for a super hero. This car is licensed and has a current MOT.

Since the advent of television and film, motorcars have secured a niche as worthy co-stars with as much an appreciative audience as the stars themselves. This often has as much to do with the design than the storyline. From Genevieve to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, from the Mustang in Bullitt to the VW Beetle in the Herbie films, cars from Great Britain and America have been making headlines for years, not only commanding impressive publicity fees but also, in the rare event that they appear for sale, impressive prices as well.
And so they should as there is usually only one or two of them made and they recall the childhoods of often millions of people. There are some cars that come along though, that seem to occupy the Holy Grail of film car cult status and The Batmobile is one such car.
If, however, you can't afford the real thing, then there is a ready market for tribute cars and it is this path that the vendor chose to tread. Once he had secured a 1973 Lincoln Continental, he set about work creating his dream. Bill Chaplin, a specialist in custom coachwork, was drafted in to assist and so it began. Built to a similar specification as the original, it was finally completed in 1988. Coincidentally, in 1989, the interest in Batman was recaptured in the nation's hearts and so this car was suddenly catapulted into the headlines. It was much called for not only in Britain but also in Europe and the Middle East, including being used in the Batman stage show in Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates in 1993, in addition to numerous other promotional appearances at motor shows in Ireland, England, Dubai and Austria to name but a few.
An enormous clippings file accompanies the car from almost every publication one cares to mention and it also became a regular sight with Batman himself, Adam West. He is still very busy with conference work and promotional tours and he has appeared on numerous occasions on, in and with this well known tribute to the original car. The appearances have not isolated themselves to print however; numerous television appearances have seen Adam West and this Batmobile together including a number of driving sequences. Internally, the mechanical components are described by the vendor as extremely reliable and the car starts and drives well. Supplied with a full years MoT test certificate as well as a UK V5 registration document, this Batmobile, as one would expect, comes with dashboard mounted television, rear parachute pod, Batphone and lights.
Not only do you now have an opportunity to fight the forces of crime but you can now also arrive in style!
