Any device to prevent flooding carbs ?

There are several reasons for carburetor flooding.

1. Fuel level is too high - adjust the floats to lower it.
2. Needle and seat assembly is dirty or faulty - replace it.
3. Floats are faulty - replace them. Make sure they move freely through their range.
4. Fuel pressure is too high - reduce it.
5. Fuel line is too close to a heat source and fuel drips in after you shut the engine off - shield or reposition it.
6. Pre-start flooding is usually caused by pumping the throttle too much.

Is there any device to prevent fuel flooding carbs ?

I think I red a post about this but didn't save it and I couldn't find it now.

a device ? no,

as @Mike Goble

1. Fuel level is too high - adjust the floats to lower it., use a thicker shim on the fuel valve, max is 2mm
2. Needle and seat assembly is dirty or faulty - replace it., fuel valve could be defective
7, during driving float can get stuck on gasket excess, to solve the issue stop the car and hit the carb uisng a rubber mallet or similiar to free the float, a carb overhaul is recomentded

Worthwhile updating the vent chimney - http://e9coupe.com/tech/zeniths/bmw1/bmw1.html ??
Quote:
If there is a Tower, like this one, Vent Chimneys must be fitted.
The BMW Vent Chimney Modification Kit, part number 13 11 1 259 526 should be used.

When I read about this, it looked as though it was an urgent upgrade to the carbs.
I did this years ago, and assumed it helped the carbs cope with flooding by tipping the excess into the downdraft tube.
