Great atmosphere, somewhat more relaxed than the Le Mans 24hr. Petrolhead nirvana walking around the paddocks, you can get quite engrossed in the cars from the particular era that excites you. You can get up and close to the cars, mechanics and drivers in the paddocks.
Arnage/Indianapolis at night, cars coming through the fast wooded section into a slower left hander, quick mad burst then onto the brakes for the right hander on full throttle down to Porsche Curves. You are quite close to the circuit here and can be quite a visceral experience.
I've sat at Mulsanne corner early in the morning half asleep just watching the cars brake hard at the end of Mulsanne turn right and accelerate away. Great to hear them on throttle down the Mulsanne and then have to brake hard for the corner, then blast away towards Indianapolis. Good vantage point and not too busy.
Dunlop Chicane/Esses on the inside of the circuit as the sun rises, again quite close to the action in places, quite surreal when you are tired watching old cars battling it out! (and not too far to walk in the early morning after a couple hours sleep)
Pit straight in the Grandstands in the middle of the night, easy access back and forth to your tent, sit half asleep/half awake watching the action and activity in the pit garages.
The Mulsanne chicanes are pleasant to watch by walking through the woods, but often marshalls stopping you from getting there.
If you decide to go you will have a fabulous time.
You won't be able to pre-order a paddock pass now and they are not selling them at the event (although you may be able to buy one from an event organiser type place at an inflated price). It is a particular highlight to walk around the grouped era paddocks. Nevertheless, you might be able to find someone selling one at the event, or even lend you one for a few hours.

You've probably noted there are several e9's racing, and what sounds like a good mix of cars.
