Note that the ability to switch to island mode is a fairly serious issue and requires solid engineering and approvals. The problem is that if it is not done correctly and the grid goes down and your system switches to self powered but its cut off switch is not working properly, this would send power back upstream on the grid and people who are working to repair the system could get seriously hurt by this unforeseen arrival of electricity.
We had our system fully installed for a month before the power company was able to come and do a full verification that the island mode switch was working properly before we were authorized to turn it on.
