Doesn't every factory injected E9 have one of those under the rear seat?
Actually the ECU is under the right seat and is a bit tidier 
This was put in when the car had an aftermarket AC installed - I'm still cleaning that mess up, the evaporator unit was above the glove box instead of in the console.
