Anybody know the difference between these distributors?

My '72 CS has a Bosch distributor with the following numbers:

231 162 002
JFUD 6

I pulled a good distributor off of a '72 Bavaria that has these numbers:

231 162 004
JFUD 6

Does anyone know what the difference is? Different advance curve?

I just had them both apart... definitely different mechanical advance curves.

After a bit of research, it appears the 004 distributor belongs on a '75 - '78 530i. Probably a bit more conservative curve to comply with emissions standards.
