Anyone have any recent sunroof experience ? I managed to unclip the sunroof headliner and slide it back. When my sunroof is closed it is tight and rattle free. However as soon as you move it back and the rear drops down the rear of the sunroof panel becomes loose (vertically) and makes noise on any road bumps. Just wondering if there is any parts I should order from the dealer before removing the sunroof from the car ? Another possibility is the previous owner replaced the sunroof gaskets, could he have re-assembled something wrong ? Try as I may (mirrors) I can’t see up there unless I can find someone to lend me a borescope. Finally even though the headliner is un-clipped I was unable to bow it down in the center & remove it, do I just need to be more aggressive ? ~ John Buchtenkirch

P.S. I have a Bavaria sunroof I can raid for parts.

Second P.S. I’m sorry I haven’t posted in quite some time. My 94 year old mom has become senile and caring for her seems to eat up a large part of my free time.

im an expert on the sunroof.
the issue id you need to remove the sunroof first .
you need to remove the moving mechanism, wheather manual or powered.
then pull the front clips and the back slider anchors.
then carefully pull it all the way forward.
the slidsers will move along forward with the roof panel.
ON the bottom of the sunroof there are two trapazodial plastic sliders that should be 3/4 of the way back -
aligned with the side aluminum slider plates.
what happens is , when the roof is slide back these ride on the side frames and take up any slack
if they are not there , your described condition will occur.
if they are there they may be sitting on the headliner or somewhere inside,
hopefully they are there somewhere also they could have come undone and be laying sideways.
let me know ok.
if gone you can make some and set em with jb weld.
i can draw you a picture of them for fabrication
ok
