I'm slowly narrowing down my search for an E9, and found one I really like in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Problem is, I'm on the wrong coast. :?

I'm willing to have the car shipped, but I'm not willing to buy it totally sight-unseen. Are there any fellow E9ers near the car that would be willing to look at it for me? I'd be happy to pay you for your time (or at least get you a subscription to the Beer of the Month Club!). Please PM me! Thanks in advance, Max

Normally, I would be happy to take a look at it for you. Unfortunately, I will not have any time for the next four weeks or so due to family in town for my step daughters wedding followed by cancer surgery for my wife.

If you can wait that long, I will take drive down there to take a look at it for you.

I am new to the Coupe world, I've only owned mine for 10 months; but would be willing to take a look for you as long as you provide me with a detailed list of what you would like me to look for (rust, I know) and what pictures you want. I live in Costa Mesa and am about 30 or so miles from San Juan Capistrano. [email protected]

Thanks,
Mike

Tustin help if you need it

Welcome to the world of E9s and I hope your first step lands you with a great car.

"jmackro" lives in San Juan C. and he has nearly completed a first cosmetic restoration of his own 2800. He knows a lot about E9s and Alfas and is a super nice guy.

I'm in Tustin about 20 miles from San Juan C and would be willing to help you out, but I'm probably not the best expert at finding the typical rust spots. I'm more up on the mechanical end of things.

I have replied to Max

Yes I do live in San Juan, and I have been communicating with Max. I do plan to take a look at the car, and discuss my findings with him.

But I certainly don't claim to be an expert, so if others want to get in on this too, I certainly won't be offended.

First off, thanks in advance to everyone that has offered help and advice. This truly is a great community.

Jay has offered to take a look at the car this weekend, hopefully he and the seller can hook up. If all goes well, I may have an E9 in my future! Max

Coupe in San Juan Capo--

I would be happy to discuss Jay's findings as he has a good eye for the bigger picture and his recent "hands on" efforts to bring his E-9 back into very nice shape has been very helpful in the many details. I saw it at Cars 'n Coffee yesterday morning--looking good so far--still a few things to be done--and I know a correct coupe when I see one.

If you don't mind e-mail me the owners name. I've been here in OC for over 40 years and personally owned 3, judged many and prepped many other E-9's for delivery to new owners who have asked me to locate a coupe for them--so kind of know my area fairly well and have known a fair number of local owners from the time the coupes were new.

I'm officially a CS owner! Jay did a great job inspecting the car, and I think I got a good car at a good price. The car will be picked up via enclosed trailer this weekend for a 2700 mile trip to its new home in Richmond VA.

Max, you'll be happy...what color combo did you get. Is she stock? Welcome, once again. Wayne

Black on Black, 1970 2800. New 3 liter engine and 5-speed. Stock interior and exterior, but that's all about to change (and I don't want to hear any crap about it!).

That would make Jay and others here that helped you with the purchase accessories to a crime. Sorry, you have to submit the plans to Dang for board approval.

:D Hah! Nothing major, or that can't be returned to stock:

Front and Rear bumper delete (yes, no rear bumper!)
CSL Airdam
Duckbill spoiler
Better front seats (but still period correct!)
16" Alpinas
Maybe TJs old carbon fiber interior bits?
Side stripes and maybe a wide roof stripe like the Heidegger. Hmmm, should they be silver, grey, or orange?
Fuel injection upgrade (long-term)
