This car has piqued my interest. If I recall correctly, it has been listed once or twice before. Has anyone gone and taken a look at it or had it inspected? I definitely plan on getting it inspected if I decide to pursue it but was just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with it; the more info the better. Thanks in advance.

Search this site for Bimmer Bros. No tthe best rep but he is just a broker. If you are interested in the car, have it checked by someone reputable.

First thing you would need to do is to ditch the TRX wheels and tires. That wheel/tire combination was a terrible mistake made by BMW in the 80's, but I guess at the time it was considered cutting edge technology.

Why would anyone put TRXs on?

Maybe the previous owner got them for free. Not an upgrade.
Both of my e24s have had them removed.

Unusual black on black - I don't remember ever seeing this as factory combo - usually nacht blue with black - but the engine compartment looks original black (where it isn't rusty). Funky interior. I like the picture of the road kill old interior. This coupe will require major $$$ to sort out in my opinion.

if i'm not mistaken, bimmerbrothers got this from ebay about three months ago.
i thought that the interior looked familiar... then i saw that they are using an older picture of the car at their bimmerbrothers.net site - and you'll see that it had what i'll call "mid-80's racing dynamics"-type wheels and then i remembered seeing it on ebay. i remember it selling for 8k, but i could be wrong. maybe someone will remember better after looking at the older picture? maybe there's a 635csi on their lot that has magically swapped wheels now?

I must first apologise to say no I have no previous knowledge of the car...and that was your question. So I dont want to sound like a doubting Thomas asshole from the peanut-gallery. I also have no personal experience with the Bimmerbros, and thus this is a general opinion of the car from what this vendor has written, and photographed.

Read the description objectively, as if you were an attorney trying to find a hole in it. Read it four times outloud. Terms like "virtually no rust","daily driver", "fair to good condition", should ring some bells in coupe-dom. Anyone that has a coupe knows that only dry cars from a dry environment, that were pampered and kept out of the weather from birth 30-some years ago have no rust. I guess the most glaring photo that would make me think that this California girl wasn't as loved as she should have been is the black overspray on the plastic wheel-well covers in the trunk. If you do have the car inspected, try to have someone that knows the specific problems that coupes have, not just a really good mechanic. A really good (virtually rust free) coupe should cost you 20K, and still need things. A wannabe 20-footer will cost you 10K + 20-30K to make right and be worth 19.9K. Ask me how I know. Sincerely, the best of luck. Dave V. in NC

About five years ago, I looked at a coupe that Bimmer Bros had listed. Short story, the condition wasn't even close to what his discription of the car on his website or during a couple of phone conversations.

This car might have been 'Malaga' originally or at some point in it's life. I see a lot of dark red (beside the rust) in the engine compartment.

Saw it last tome it was on Ebay

I looked at this car in Clarksburg, Ca last time it was on Ebay. Either they didn't look in the spare tire well, or they are full of something. There is definitely rust in the spare well. That's all the rust I saw ,but I quit looking after that. It's all I needed to see. Don't buy it without someone you trust taking a look. Good luck, Dean

As I posted on the CSR mailing list --

Strike one -- Overspray in the trunk

Strike two -- TRX wheels

Strike three -- seller is Bimmer Bros.

The car is a project, and worth about half the BIN price.
