Anyone want a race car?

Can’t use any of these cars as a daily driver ...

I would get banned in the 1st 24hrs of driving these machines on the road ... too much metal to the peddle and a driving ban
 

Thank you for the links. Looking at Dieter's ride. Although it evidently employs what may be a CD ignition, it is interesting that it is coupled with the Bosch "Blue" coil. The Blue coil is reputedly a step beneath the original equipment coil or the Bosch "red" coil. Also assuming that the uncapped plastic container is merely a catch can for the valve cover breather.

(1) DCOE are fitted withOUT modified thermo housing.
(2) infamous coolant bleeder screw replaced by a bolt
(3) period correct carbs, eg not the new type with air bleed screws
(4) twisted tachometer for better visibility. I may pump my ride this way someday.
(5) why the separate washer pump?
(6) GRP hood/bonnet
(7) cold air barrier for the carb intakes
(8) spot lights mounted via the bumper arm slots??
(9) center support for front air dam
(10) exhaust exit suggests there is a fuel cell in a modified trunk floor
(11) yes race cars generally have catch tanks for all vents to try to minimize oil on the track. You’d be surprise how much blow by there is when you operate your motor under race conditions (WOT, near redline, 85% duty cycle).


What other noteworthy things are in those pics?

Perhaps . . . more attention was paid to maintaining the car in running condition rather than as a competitive racer. (Not that it is terribly significant, number one spark plug terminal does not match its neighbor. The passenger door panel appears equipped with comfort items including a speaker and OE ashtray.)

It's unclear that there is a separate reservoir pump since we do not have a full view of the reservoir. The pump may have been relocated on the fender apron to limit heat exposure from the exhaust. That said, it appears that the pump is feeding a tube through the air intake snorkel - outside the engine bay.

Re: catch tank, I have used similar containment, but generally with a lid.
