I got a box of misc E9 parts today... In the box was a pair of front turn signal lens and I went to compare them to the ones on my car and they are much smaller...

Are the early turn signal on E9s different then the 1974 US version?

Turn signal lens

Lens for turn signals are the same size--larger--from the early US spec E-9's through the last model imported through Hoffman Motors. You have seemingly received the smaller ones that were supplied to the rest of the world.

The smaller ones have been deemed desirable and sought after by some owners to give a "sleeker look" believed esthetically better--and contributing to improved aerodynamics. They do look nice--however--I've resisted the temptation of installing them on the BLUMAX.

Recently our Austrian friend Andy--a regular on the board as ORANGENER--had located some through his European network that were being offered at around 65 euros each (as I recall) + shipping.

These may not be E9mlens...

They may not be E9 but are marked Hella and BMW... Maybe 02 or Baveria?

They look like Baveria!

Curses! There from a Baveria...

Son of a B*^%$#..

Oh well...

I have some Bavaria lenses in my stash and they are a completely different shape than my coupes'. Perhaps BMW used coupe lenses on some year Bavaria's but I don't think so.
