Last night around 11 while working on getting he little things in my interior straightened out I decided after 8 years of ownership to open the ash tray and take it out. It decided to put up a good fight, I got a small pray bar, a big screwdriver and other related tools finally after about half an hour and prying and pulling I got it out. The previous owner left his Allstate insurance card in there and a small pencil. I decided to pop off the cigarette holder and trash it. I took the ash tray in the house and washed it thoroughly. My plan is to paint the inside gloss black and use it as a small storage compartment.

How many people have the extra power supply thing like a cigarette plug coming from the glove compartment? This is the second 73 I have owned and both cars had this option.

Do you mean the ash tray in the door panel, or do you have a very early coupe with the ashtray in the dash? Those early dash mounted ones variants are quite rare.

I've never seen an additional power supply from the glove box. For all i know, it's just the center console mounted cigarette lighter that provides juice. Can you share some pics? Now I'm curious how your car's interior looks like....

E3's have an ash tray in the middle of the dashboard above the center vent

Show us a pic of the lighter in the glove box. After 9/73 they added a flashlight to the hood release door but I have never seen anything in the glove box. I added this in my 2800 using switched power from the fuse box.
