what do you use to attach new carpeting with?

it just sits on the floor
if you want you can buy a strip of velcro
and use that

originally the carpet is fitted to the floor using impact glue, those pieces that would not be removed are glued,
the pieces that can be removed to clean are fitted with metallic clips
