Hi all,

Work is nearing completion on my '73 coupe and it is time to line up shipping it across country (CA to NC). Can anyone out there recommend an auto carrier that is reputable, reliable, and affordable (Affordable to me is less than $1500 for open transport). And, can anyone recommend a good auto upholsterer in North Carolina? I live near Wilmington, NC.

Thanks,

Walt

Walter,
I researched shipping companies in preparation of having my coupe shipped from PA to VA. There is a site (can't think of the exact address) that rates many shippers. I had contact with one I was very impressed with. Capitol Auto Shippers @ 888-811-9106. A guy named Andrew was very helpful and thorough. I never actually used them as I decided to rent a trailer and do it myself since it is only a 6 hour drive, but I have the confidence based on their excellent ratings that they would have performed a good job. I hope to pick it up my coupe this Saturday. BTW, who did your restoration work?

Thanks for the recommendation Randy, I will give them a call. I got a cheap paint job done in the SF area. I haven't seen the car yet, so I don't know if I would recommend them or not. Chris Keefer at Carl Nelson's shop is doing the engine.

CA to NC closed transport--not open

I have used a fine small operator for closed transport from SoCal to NC as well as elsewhere on several cars. They are more expensive than you are looking to find today--and with $4.00/gal diesel prices you can expect to pay more--the price here in SoCal at least. For affordable under $1,500 suggest you take a few days off and fly out to drive it to NC--good fun, excellent shake down for your coupe and a great experience for--under $1,500

Call Bob Beverly @--704-907-7967--tell him Murray sent you--they operate out of Charlotte, NC--FYI--Bob transports most of Carrol Shelbys cars out of the Las Vegas area to many points East and is a car guy through and through--only two cars in his closed rig at a time--often in company with a very valuable classic.
