I have several people offering B34 cores and have one being delivered for $100 to my house. Includes the full bottom half and it does turn. Seems like a pretty good deal and a nice project to clean up.

However, someone just contacted me and has a blueprinted B34 bottom and said he needs to move it so make him an offer. I have two questions:

1) What's a bored, honed and painted engine (b34 mind you) worth without the top?

2) Is it a bad idea to buy an engine that's already been to the machinist when I've got a set of pistons on order from Paul Burke or should I just wait and deliver the "ready to machine" old block along with the pistons?

A good m30 b34 core block is worth about a few hundred bucks or less.

#1 is this with crank, pistons, new rings, new rod and main bearings?
What oil pan?
What compression?
Is this blueprinted one?
Got the build sheet?
Bored and honed is not plueprinted!

#2 a standard bottom end job is 1000 bucks without special
Pistons- this is parts and labor.
Blueprinted can be as much as you want to spend..

Thanks Don. Let me try this again.

Here is the offer:

"I have a fresh block I just honed and blueprinted. As well as the crank, rods, pistons etc and a B34 head. Let me know if you need anything!

Also, just so you know, the block has been drill honed, pressure washed, cleaned, thread chased, oil applied to cyl walls, and painted satin black. Very good candidate for what you're looking for."

I am using Paul's 806 Piston set and paul's instructions to me were to take the block to the machinist with the pistons and he would tell them exactly what to do. Paul suggested using the oil pan and pump from the B34 (which I have already just in case) but use the B35 crank and the rest of the head. I have a 91 735 donor that was rear-ended which will get new everything including Paul's N31 cam.

I suppose the questions should have been reversed. Is it a bad idea to buy an engine as described above given the pistons I'm going to put in it because I risk having to machine it twice and if not (because the majority of the cleaning, machining, etc. will not have to be repeated), what's a fair price.

Thanks again Don.

Well you don't want the b34 head or pistons or crank.....
That means you aren't buying or at least getting a blueprinted with
Sheet engine.
Take your core block to the shop asap and have inspect and bless it tomorrow.

We're getting closer...

Definitely need to give this one a good cleaning and clear coat. Is it safe to blast the inside of the intake or do you just leave it and worry about the exterior. I was hoping to do this myself to save a few bucks or really as an excuse to buy some tools.

I'm keeping a close eye on the fall temperatures and will welcome you with a glass of chianti chaise lounge by the pool! The tranny is almost ready to go on so I'm guessing a mid October?

I am soo ready to try a trip with good weather....
That last 703 miles to Fort Myers from your town without AC was................
Challenging.
The last hundred miles I did with a 10 # bag of ice in my lap.

....well, you don't want any more children anyway

I'll post pictures soon but am very happy to report the B35 is in along with the 5 speed and stahl headers. They decided to take the entire front end off to fit it in. 10 hours later and a few tweaks to the headers and the trans mount and voila.

Oh wait, wrong intake and need the booster rebuilt but it's progress and the first time I've actually seen the headers.
