Today I drove my M635CSI up 880 to retrieve my beloved CSL from Virtuoso Performance, where I have her stored. Pulling in to the parking lot I immediately saw my baby parked safely inside their immaculate storage facility, trickle charger plugged in and ready to roll. It was so great to see the car, but even better to slip in to that crazy Scheel seat and absorb the sights and smells of the CSL. Fuel pump primed the FI system with a cool sounding "whoossssssh" and I turned the key. She fired almost immediately, and settled in to that beautiful sounding idle.

I carefully pulled her out of the garage, making sure not to run over the Formula Jr. Cooper, bang in to the Aston Martin race car, the Ferrari Testarossa or the Cosworth V8 Formula One race car.

Out on the road the contrast between the M635 and the CSL could not be more pronounced. The CSL feels compact, and light on its toes. The gearshift lever throw is short and sweet, the brakes stop the car RIGHT now, and the non-power steering gives you the feeling that your hands are connected directly to the front wheels.

And then there's the sound and the acceleration. Man I love this car. The 70 or so horsepower she gives away to the M635 she makes up for by being some 400 pounds lighter. What a joy to drive. I chased my buddy driving the M635 down 880 and up 17, pulling in to my driveway with a grin on my face. Have I mentioned that I love this car?

She's now parked safely in the garage, looking forward to the forthcoming weekend's activities.
