Try to switch between the gears, if they light don't work, or if there box need a adjustment.
I accept, you check as first the bulb?
Often at those old lights there other ground has contact issues

There should be B+ at the switch at the transmission all the time.
Selector ground is for starter relay

Battery positive.

Check for battery positive at the wires at switch- one should be “hot”

Jumper the 2 wires at the switch to see if switch is bad next.

Power was there, so I back to the rear lights. They were loos and had some corrosion.
I also found a leak at the transmission. Not sure where its coming from. Its a Borgwarner...
Thanks for your help!

Haven't looked at it in a while, but it's been well and repeatedly documented that rear lights or lack thereof can frequently be traced to failure of the copper bus bar (ground for rear lights IIRC) to receive power through the steel rivets on the bulb socket. Galvanic corrosion impedes current flow. You can test this using a jumper wire from the bulb socket to a clean spot on the bus bar. Going further, drill out and replace the steel rivets (could be very touchy work) or add a ground wire from socket to a cleaned spot on the bus bar.
