Where can i get hold of new ball joints? I dont want to have to buy new wishbones, and track control arms!

Thanks
Chris (UK)

Your control arm looks to be in pretty bad shape as well, bushings have all dried out. You can buy both together with new bushings. Looks like you need tie rods as well?

My thoughts were to sandblast & powder coat. Then fit new bushings and ball joints.

But i need to know if you can even renew the ball joints.

Incase they need bought new, what supplier have you in mind?

Bit of a sidestep, but anyone know who supplies the red poly bush set?

I think im resigned to buying new arms/wishbones from W&N, but i still want to upgrade to polyurathene bushes all round.

If you going to buy new arms/wishbones you absolutely don't need to upgrade to polyurathene bushes. Unless you not want bushes in light green or yellow? :-)

I've just bought complete wishbones as this was deemed most cost-effective way to go . You're probably aware that W&N currently have them on special at 109 euros each .Cheers,Simon

A little over a month ago both wishbones were not available.
You could get one (left I think) but the other one was no where to be found.
I ended up using e12 wishbones and had to change one of the rubber bushings to a different size.

GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN.

And no I could never find someone that could replace the ball joint.

Feel free to jump in. Im also looking for a dealer who can of a complete set of poly bushes.

Anyone?

Thanks for that they have exactly what I need and the price is ok selected the bits to buy was $143 so well happy UNTIL POSTAGE !!!

$150 !!!

Why is US postage so damned EXPENSIVE :-(

+1 on US postage cost Peter . I ordered 4 x engine foam insulation pieces and website calculated $95 for shipping ...subsequently advised by supplier that it would cost AT LEAST another $600 !!....obviously the cost of feeding carrier pigeons has gone up
Cheers, Simon

A little tip I learned recently sending springs to Spain.

I have a Fed Ex account and after seeing the prices I called them and found out about a service they have when the item delivery time is not too important they will send it when they need to fill a plane at a heavily discounted rate. 50% or more.

You have to call Fed Ex and ask for the service.

Reviving this: is it possible to replace just the ball joint rubber seal? My joints are tight but my rubbers are cracked. And in any case, i can't find a source of ball joints or even complete control arms (only find the left side).

A long time ago I got a bunch of "rubber" seals for ball joints, etc in two sizes from a place in TX whose name I don't immediately remember. They were a fairly popular parts source then.... I eventually used all I had among various 2002s, 533i, 635CSI, 3.0CS and who recalls what else. So they are (were) available), I just don't remember where.
