BAT twin turbo engine

Interesting engine. It came from a 1984 BMW 745. They were a gray market import that were exported to Europe, South Africa and Japan only. The, to me, only value to the engine is the block and head. The rest is a catch can of parts that goes from well made to plumbing parts. These engines without the turbo, intake and inter cooler do fit in our Coupes. Interesting that the oil canister that’s on there does not have fittings for an external oil cooler which most E23s came with. The engine with the turbo is referred to as a M106 and came stock with 3.4 L. I think max value for the M106 block and head should be between $1-2,000. Lots of unknowns here and before anyone tried to use it in a project a complete refresh would be needed.
The interesting info on these engines that if set up properly they can push 350 HP and 450 LBT. The good news is this starts to happen at around 2800 RPM. It will be interesting if anyone is brave enough to take the bait.
Regards, Jon
