my engine compartment was in very good shape, the part in the worst shape ... the battery tray. still in very good shape but the painter spent some time working on it to remove surface rust and check it out. excellent advise @Markos

In fact, I ran out to re-check my tray - which is surprisingly solid, undamaged, and at the moment completely bare metal. I haven't personally seen a disintegrated one, but this seems like a good find for someone in need.
