My old CTEK trickle charger failed, so I bought a new one, it is a CTEK MSX 5.0 which is a 5 amp version that has a “recond” mode, The instructions suggest to use it once a year in this recond mode after a deep discharge to maximise lifetime and capacity. I think it lost a little in translation. Does anyone have experience of these? Do you use this recond mode once a year, or just when the battery is getting old?
Do you flatten the battery first by leaving the lights on?
It also has an AGM mode for AGM batteries, what are these, sealed units?

I've the same unit. I've not used the recond option, just leave it attached to the CSL's battery most of the time.

I don't think they'd expect you to discharge the battery just to desulphate it, could be wrong. Leaving a car battery discharged for a time allows sulphates to coat the cathode surfaces in the battery, best way to kill a battery.

The recond mode might use high frequency AC to clean the cathode surfaces, not sure
