Bav on eBay

I'm confused on this one. The interior doesn't look "original" to me. Power windows and wood on the doors?? What about the scuff guards at the door enterance? Did 1973 Bavarias have all of this over the 1972?

It's a 3.0S, not a Bavaria. All part of the extra fancy trim. This was on CL in Tucson not long ago with no price listed; funny that the eBay ad states the exterior color is Chamonix, it looked Sahara (and the pictures looked a lot better) on CL. Thought about having my father-in-law in Phoenix check this out, but I'm not particularly interested in an automatic, and was leery that they didn't say how much they wanted for it.

I agree the color does look Sahara and it is to bad there are no engine, rear or trunk photos. If the color of the interior I think it is really sharp. Don't think I've ever seen one this combo.

That looks like a good candidate for someone who wants to sort it out.. change bushings bearings that type of thing. The seats have been redone on it. I'd yank he autobox as my first order of business. I'd also prefer a manual window car.

It's always frustrating when people float something on CL to figure out a value... anyone with web access can figure out what they have in 20 minutes and price accordingly.

Not to hijack this thread, but:

I agree, $6,500 is a bit out of line for an OK condition automatic with 100K miles on it. 3.0S's are really cool cars, but only if they are in great condition. Some of those trim pieces are getting quite hard to find. The electric windows and sunroof (to me at least) just means that there is more to go bad....

If someone is really looking for a Bavaria, I have a pretty nice one that I'm getting ready to post FS on Craigsist here in Reno:

'72 Baikal blue (dark blue) with black vinyl interior. Four speed (I also have a good G265 that I would sell separately) 50,054 miles (the guy I got it from was the son of the original owner and he claims those are the true miles) Runs great. Webers. A true no rust car that spent it's whole life in San Jose CA. One small dent in the right rear quarter (not on the corner) where a car backed into it last year.

$2,500

Anyone on the list that's interested (before it hits CL) can instant message me for pictures. Brian

That is a pretty nice looking 3.0s

I agree that the seats have been reupholstered in what looks to be a weird vinyl material, it has a patchy/splotchty appearance.

The front of the hood is rusted pretty badly (look at the pics of the hood up).
I would bet that the car would need:
struts
shocks
wheel bearings
brakes
steering components
carbs to L-jet
radiator
water pump

Just my 73 fjord 3.0s instead, since it has had all that renewed + paint, carpet, headlining, window seals, NOS tail light lenses, and on and on and on...

Hey Mike......

How is it possible we've never ran into one another? I'm just down in Vallejo :)

I seem to recall driving by a chamonix in the Laurel Creek neighborhood maybe 3-4 years ago?

Mine's refrigerator white and I live about a mile from Laurel Creek. My wife said she saw another Bavaria at the local Kmart, but I haven't seen it yet. There's another Bav in town that belongs to Charles Loriza, met him a couple of weeks ago when he followed me home. He bought his car in Sacto last summer and hasn't got it on the road just yet.

ahh.. yah not Laurel Creek - Dickson Hill

My sister had a house off of dover and marigold - I don't think I've had my car up there ever except once or twice to go to bab's or Joes downtown maybe.

You gonna go to the bayarea swap and show May 3rd? If I still have my 3.0s, I'll be taking it there.
