Been busy most nights and weekends for a month to make my 1973 3.0 CS look better

Looks fabulous! Now unfortunately, for big dollars on a potential sale, you need to remove the gauges and wood and do a lot of clean up there.

That is not a job for the faint of heart though. Or just lower your sale price.

Yes, I'm not finished with the dash wood.

I ordered a used clock and have a replacement for the foggy plastic/glass cover.

I'm trying really hard...

Looks much better. That BaT photographer did you no favors. Your video quality is much better than the auction photos, albeit a full sun video would be more telling.

I don’t believe that the clock face is plastic. Have you tried a solvent to remove what I presume to be the polyurethane or whatever is on the glass? If you plan on replacing it, don’t dismiss taking a razor blade to the glass carefully. You need to take the cluster out to do the clock anyway, so start there. The gauges easily separate from the surrounds.

While you have the clock out, you can paint your gauge surrounds. Tape the wood exceptionally well, or better yet, remove the metal surrounds. They are tacked in place, but you can replace the racks with in weld.

Something such as duplicolor truck bed spray will give you a nice texture on the gauge surrounds. Self etching primer first.

I don't understand why the BAT photographer pics turned out so poorly.

He only gets $136 of the $250 that I paid to BAT.

He said he shoots about a dozen BAT cars a month and that he doesn't edit the photo's, as all cropping/editing are done @ BAT.

I guess I need to shoot my new pics pics at 2X resolution.

I just purchased an iphone tripod to take staple and better pics and video.

I have glass as well to replace the clock cover.

The clock light is out and I didn't see where the bulb is but I'll continue to hunt for it.

I'll use your ideals to paint the dash dials that are currently silver.

Will putting the seemingly common Alpina wheels increase my car value enough to offset the approx $3k (wheels and tires) or should I let the new owner perform such?

I just put on new wheels, plus the black and silver wheels match the car.

My car will be going to auction at collectorchassis.com sometime this month and if needed, if will go on shiftgate.com.

BAT will not post my car again! They claim they are too busy...

Thanks for your support!

Richard

I think the Alpina wheels would look better, but I wouldn’t invest $3K into wheels. If you invest any money, put it into the interior IMO. Otherwise continue to focus on these low cost cleanup items.

Richard, What did you do to the seats which were supposedly new but had obvious paint brush marks on them? You are passionate about your coupe but pics need to be in broad daylight and close enough to see details in the engine bay and interior, the earlier ones did not help. Good luck.
