When my car had its B35 heart transplant, they installed the Motronic computer in the passenger footwell by cutting a slot in the hard foam footrest. The cable just comes out of the firewall and immediately goes into a big multi prong connector. So there is not enough cable to move the unit to the glove box or somewhere more elegant. So the only thing that keeps this guy in place is the foam that it rests on.

Has anyone found a better, more secure way to hold that computer in place in that location?

Thank you

Given the short harness length you have, you could cut away some of the hard foam and bolt it directly to the footwell. Then cover the ECU with a piece of plywood that covers the entire front wall of the footwell. Porsche used this to cover their massive fuse panels.
