Hi all - I have a quick question: what is the best way to turn the crank during a valve adjustment? Flywheel turner? Socket on the crank bolt (fear of breaking off?)
If you have a spin on fan clutch- put on your 32mm wrench and smack it good with another wrench hard to tighten it, pull your plugs and now use your 32 mm wrench to turn the engine.
If you have a spin on fan clutch and a 2 row radiator - pull the fan clutch and use a 1/2" breaker bar with a 36mm socket to turn the crank.
You can tighten the fan belt to the alternator and use your wrench on the alternator pulley nut while applying tension to the belt and turn the engine.
You can use an electric shop switch to your starter and turn your crank.
You can jack up the rear wheels and stick the tranny in 5th gear and turn the wheel with a 1/2" breaker bar and a 17 mm socket
Or even use a 3/8" ratchet on one of the 6 or 8 bolts that attaches the pulley to the cranshaft damper. Requires less room and many don't have a 36mm socket.
I lifted rear right rear wheel, put in 4th gear, unbolted plugs, turned wheel by hands, impossible not to find the correct camshaft position for valve adjustment....in 4th gear engine rotation is really slow.

Then when you need to turn the motor, grab the front right wheel, where you´re at anyway and turn it, moving the car and thereby the motor. If you can´t manage by the wheel simply push at the A pillar. when you´re done with all cylinders, the car will be about a meter further back, so start with some room the spare...
