I went to pull my emergency brake up last night and I pulled an Incredible Hunk...literally...I somehow managed to really screw up the base and the brake. It has dislodged from the body. It appears to have been crudely welded or fixed somehow in the past. What can I do now to correct this? I have some photos to explain...

In a nutshell, you'll need to weld in new metal. You can accomplish this by fabricating a new mount from flat stock (the solution the PO used in my e12), or just cutting one out of another car. The e-brake mounts in e3's and e12's are all but identical to the e9 mount, so I'd go fishing junkyards for the newest e12 you can find to cut a chunk from.

*Edit* Wait, I just noticed from the photos that you have a parts car all ready. The mount from a 2002 should work fine...

This is a common problem, I think that the mount and the lever are a little on the weak side. My mount had been welded many times and my lever too. While my car is in bits I'm going to trawl the junk yards for a repacement, probably from a much later completley different model.

From you pictures and after looking at my car, it looked to me like you could just push the parts back together and MIG weld them in place.
