not mine/NA..
from craigslist Anchorage ad:

I have a 1968 BMW 2000CS 4-speed coupe that is original and extremely rare. Most car enthusiasts have never seen one. I shipped the car up from Phoenix last October where it had sat untouched for the last 23 years. It was a California car prior to that and I have a clean CA title in my name. This car has not been registered since 1988. It is in need of a restoration. The body is 95% straight and all the glass is original with no cracks. The M10 engine is original and is complete with two vintage Italian Weber side draft 45's. This car should not be started until the brakes are re-done and U-joints, CV's, etc.
I have a new set of tires from the only manufacturer in the world that still makes the exact factory size. I paid $800. for the set of five to include the spare. They are mounted on the original rims. I had the gas tank re-conditioned and the original radiator re-cored. I have a new complete set of hoses / belt / fuel lines ready to install. Of course, I have receipts for all of this and numerous resources for parts. There are two areas of rust on this car that will need attention, on the passenger side. The firewall, shock towers, rear sub-frame, etc are all completely solid.

This is a true collector's car. It is not a daily driver, not a winter car and not a rally car. I have it stored in my garage on jack stands. This is a very rare opportunity for the right buyer. There is way too much information to put in this ad but I will share an extensive knowledge of the car with the right buyer. $5500. or best offer. I may consider trades that include fire arms.

Call Rob 223-6699 I will not respond to emails.

Man, you guys are thorough!

Yes Chris, that's my white 2000CS. I am testing the water to see if there is local interest and maybe considering parting it out. But, I did not post it for sale on 02FAQ, so I am not sure what Andrew refers to here; maybe just my original introductory thread from last year.

I have surveyed the car completely, including third party inspection and can only find rust in that passenger fender top area and the passenger rocker panel and passenger side rear window bottom. The car sat under a carport in Phoenix for 23 years and that side stuck out by a few inches. The firewall and structural components up front are unusually clean and strong. However, I am afraid to try and restore this car.

As original coupes go, I am confident that this example is more solid than the majority that surface. Moving the car to Anchorage made sense, as that is where I live but restoring one, as a newbie, from Anchorage, perhaps does not make a lot of sense:confused: This is embarrassing for me, as clearly I got in over my head.

Anyway, I did not post for sale on any forums yet since I had not made up my mind how I would respond yet if someone wanted certain parts. My car does have some nice, rare parts in very good condition.

But since you two have 'outed' me - my current local Craigslist ad is at $4900. or best offer.

Cheers,

I just saw one of these 2000's in a residential "boneyard". Its near a pal's house. Parts may be able to be had. If anyone is really interested in any specific parts PM me and I will see what I can do.
