Hi all,
As previously mentioned i am in the restoration process of my 2000 C, basically stripped back to bare metal and now tackling the underside, getting rid of all the rubber/tar which has held up very well considering the age of the car and the minimal surface rust underneath it all, except where the rear floor pans are, both need replacing
Anyway this is a suspension question for the experts out there and i'm hoping for some guidance, opinions and assistance in the right directions.
I have searched high and low, even gone to my suspension dealers in the hope i could find what i am looking for but to no avail, it seems that the rear shocks or any form of new suspension kits only start with the E9 2800 model only. I have browsed 2000 C/CS sites, googled endlessly but i only keep getting the bilstein shock and the asking price for 1 rear shocker is outrageous, $432.00 not to mention the shipping costs on top of that
for me, that would work out to be approx $1200.00 in total just for the 2 rear shocks, plus shipping
So my question is, does anyone know where i can purchase 2x rear shocks, and 2x front inserts for a reasonable price?
Also, does anyone know of a lowering kit available for this vehicle, perhaps an after market system? Or, if i have my original springs cut and the ends reshaped for correct fitment, would there be smaller length shocks and inserts available that would suit the car? I am looking at lowering the cat by 1.5 - 2 inches in total.
As you can see by the attached photos, something does not seem right, the original shock that is on the car at the moment seems to rub against the spring so i am thinking this cannot be the original part for this vehicle, there are no stickers or markings to let me know what sort of shocker it is. I am a little disappointed that the original spring i fully refurbished and trialed on the car is now scratched, (see pic attached) so its back to the garage for a repaint.
Does Koni, Eilbach, Boge or anyone else that i cannot think of make sport shocks to suit this vehicle?
Thank you in advance! :-D
PS: some before and after pics of the suspension and trailing arm :-D
