Bmw 2800c bavaria

Yesterday I came across an E9 2800cs. It is a bit rough, but what confuses me is the badging on the bootlid. where it would normally have 2800cs on the right side, it has 2800c and on the left side iof the bootlid it has a bavaria badge.

The car is a Euro-spec LHD car. Was this an option on somecars - a special edition, or possibly the Bavaria badge comes from an E3 saloon?

The Bavaria badge came from an E3 saloon would be my guess. I had thought that the "Bavaria" moniker was unique to the US, and came from the fertile marketing mind of the US BMW importer, Max Hoffman.
