Hello I have started to purchase an original cs GS-tuning E9 with zf5 speed trans and want to hear if there are any out there that have one or know someone who has one. Also want to know how many e 9 gs is built
Because information is very limited

E9's- yes there were. Warsteiner being one. Here's a some info on the 2002's- http://historicracingbmw.blogspot.com/2010/07/gs-tuning-warsteiner.html

Congatulations on finding one. They were absolutely outstanding competition cars and tuners. If it's a 73 or later- it's twin cam? ...or you just weren't in the game.

FYI- Search the tuner's true name and races..or pm me.

ok thanks, I've been looking everywhere but without luck, the one I should buy is a vintage 75 and has 5 speed zf trans with 240 bhp

Csl- 74-75

Ruben,

BMW built 17. The serial numbers are on a chart on the CS Registry site. The Tab above is a direct link. Look for e9 general information, production numbers and there is the table. The car's VIN number will match one of those seventeen.

There is a current discussion of Pebble Beach or Monterey. The black CSL being discussed is a 74 with low original miles for reference.

I know of two GS Tuners E9 cars. One 73- brown. and another red with yellow rear fenders that raced back when new and there are race pictures of the cars. You can use the information about GS to see what they usually added to the car. From what I know it would be simialr to what Alpina and the Works cars would have done. Perhaps there were others, but I seriously doubt it. BMW would have certainly known who GS was because of the racing circuits in Europe.

Let us know how we can help you.

Maybe I am wrong, but:

- I don't think BMW will know how many gs tuning e9 were made. In most cases bmw can only tell that one specific vin e9 were sold to where (bmw dealership, alpina, etc).

- as I know, no gs e9 were started in traditional touring car races in the 70s

- there are at least 2 other gs e9 exist, one was the press car (see ams, or gs tuning bmw 1972 brochure), it is errr... it think yellow and black. It was raced at targa florio. The other one is / was offered for sales at mobile.de, it has interesting history, it looks like a schnitzer like bodykit with etcc trim, etc.
