BMW M1 for sale at Sotheby's

i tried to get into one at Pete's suggestion ... it didn't go well. not the car for anybody much taller than 6'-0", especially if you are tall from the waste up. i was staring at the back edge of the sun visor ... and i couldn't get my legs inside the door.

And definitely not for the "Older Class" driver. At my age, 83, I can't bend my body like I used to. The other day a buddy drove me to pick up my Bavaria(which I can enter and exit easily) in his 2002 with the lower, deeper seats. I fell in but could not get out without his pulling me out. I would still be there if he hadn't.

Another peril of getting old, but no complaints from this driver, it has been a great race.

I remember way back when I was chasing a CSL and these were the same price... It would have been so much easier (and a smarter investment) if I had chosen differently. Heart (won) vs Brain (zero)

I remember way back when I worked at the dealership, there were 2 M1's that I would work on, kinda a PIA, everything was quite tight. Driving the cars were fun, there was a stretch of road near the local university that we could get up to speed( as log as the cops weren't around ) I am 6'4" so it was a bit crammed for space, that was for sure. Reversing was a huge problem, most times had to put my butt on the sill and sit there to see where we were going BUT what a rush driving them, the engine sound when you cracked open the throttle and just the coolness of driving one, like driving a big go kart it handled so well

Thanks, Rick

when you are young you have a better chance of 'folding' up to get in / out. at 6'-3" and 68 ... not so flexible anymore.
